We hate to sell Lady at such a reduced price because we feel she would be a great production female for us. We also feel we have a lot of other great production females that are having crias and we need to make room for those crias.
Lady came from a breeding to Miller-McMahan Alpacas' Black Beau of PVA that took place less than 3 months prior to his unexpected passing in early August of 2015. That makes Lady one of a limited number of crias in Beau's last crop. It was a repeat breeding to our foundation female Lianka because the first breeding produced an outstanding cria in Lady’s full sister Ariana. Lianka is top 2% for AFD, SF, and %>30 while full sister Ariana is top 2% for AFD, SF, %>30 and MSL. Lady has 3/4 of the same genetics as our Black Beau's Comet because Lady's dam Lianka is Comet's maternal grandmother and both have Black Beau as the sire. Comet won 7 banners in his show career.
Lady's sister Ariana is a light fawn female in contrast to Lady's true black color. We registered Lady as bay black, but she has been color tested at 3 shows now and she has been checked as true black every time. She has brown tipping, but inside the fleece and next to the skin it is a lustrous true black.
Lady was shorn on May 12, 2017 and a sample of her fleece was sent in for EPD testing. While she may not be as fine as her fawn sister Ariana, Lady's histogram came back with great results for a black alpaca. She had an AFD of 21.3 microns with a SDAFD of 4.8 microns. There were only 5% of her fibers greater than 30 microns for a comfort factor of 95%. Her average staple length for her first shearing at age 1 year was 7.8 inches and the total fleece weight was 4.7 pounds. While they are a bit different than her full sister Ariana’s, one can see in the last picture that Lady did end up with very good EPD rankings.
Lady has a petite and very feminine build like her dam Lianka. Some might think that's a negative, but if she is as easy to get bred (one and done 3 times in a row since we've owned Lianka), is as easy a birther, has the same good sized healthy crias, and produces the great amount of milk like Lianka, then taking after her petite dam will not be that bad of a problem for Lady to have. In fact, her full sister has been bred twice and both of those were one and done. The purchase of Lady comes with a breeding to the Anderson Acres Alpacas herdsire of your choice. We recommend breeding her to Trigger.
