BLACK BEAU'S COMET

Suri Herdsire (Male) Light Brown

AOA# 35118275 DOB: 11/29/20149 yrs
Comet is a 7 time banner winner and is the result of combining some great genetics. His sire is Black Beau of PVA. Comet is from the Mahogany Prince to Kobe to Diamonte to Black Beau line of champion PVA genetics. Black Beau inherited great fleece statistics. Black Beau had EPDs that improved AFD, SDAFD, SF, %>30, MSL, and FW. It was expected that he'd improve every measurable aspect of a fleece in his progeny. Black Beau also had the most beautiful Suri conformation to pass on to his offspring. ...

GiFi is quite the little lady...perky and inquisitive! She has awesome fleece, very fine, cool, with slick handle and little individual locks. Her luster is outstanding! She takes after her sire, Topaz Jazz, in looks and fineness of fiber (Topaz was 18.8 micron at age 5) and GiGi was 17.3 micron AFD at 2! She is a very nice champagne color with a bit darker head. Her points are dark, which gives her a very intriguing look. She is petite but feisty!

GiGi has good conformation and lots of energy & spirit! Her dam is a wonderful mother, easy birther with lots of good milk. All of her cria have had exceptionally fine fiber and lots of it! The expectations are for GiGi to have the same strong reproductive abilities and produce top quality crias. For a Suri her fiber fineness and uniformity when she was younger was outstanding!

In 2017 a fleece sample was submitted to Yocom-McColl to be a part of the EPD calculations. The data from the histogram is given to the right and her EPD results can be seen by clicking on the EPDs link. The EPDs are good for fineness and uniformity!

Update May of 2019: Unfortunately, those EPDs saying she will help fineness and uniformity are never going to be utilized. The information about her dam and how GiGi was going to be a good mother like her mom were true by all indications because GiGi was exceptionally devoted to the last cria she birthed. The problem is GiGi has been unable to have a viable cria. We have bred her to two different herdsires that have had no problems with any of the other crias they've sired and GiGi's resulting crias have both been deformed. One was stillborn due to its problems and the other had to be put down because it was not going to be able to nurse due to the abnormalities it had. So, GiGi has been changed to the nonbreeding status and will only be sold as a pet/companion/fiber Suri alpaca. She must have some genetic marker that is causing deformities in her crias.
